Walsall overcame an Eastleigh first half onslaught to hold on to our early goal lead. The 2nd half was typical Walsall as they stepped up the tempo and quality, but the real pick of the quality moments was the pass from Evan Weir to perfectly set up an even more impressive finish for Daniel Kanu.
Jamma scoring on the break to make it three and put the game beyond doubt was a great moment where Jamma announced, “I’m back.” After the exhaustion he must have felt from the heavy playing time last season, he is now refreshed and has given a clear, “don’t give up on me yet”.
S&S Steelstock Performance rating 7/10 poor at times in the first half but a second half to bring a smile to the Saddlers fans.
Man of the Match Evan Weir – A goal and a superb assist, plus the nearest of free kicks which whistled the wrong side of the post with the keeper stranded. Maybe it’s a good job it didn’t go in because the phone would have been ringing off the hook with pre-January offers with it being on BBC for all to wonder at.
Moment that made me smile – Jamma is back
