The whole fan base were dreading travelling to Shrewsbury, despite their lowly league position (17th), they were on a run of 5 straight wins (3 at home, 2 away).
Walsall had forgot how to win after seven games without a win, only losing 3 of those only slightly lessened the blow as Walsall slipped from 3rd to 9th.
All 1,600 fans, ignored what had gone before and the concerns with Mat Sadler remaining in charge and backed the team with a consistent throng of support which inspired the team to get that elusive next win on the board.
Two set piece goals from the Priest saw that Walsall grabbed the win despite an excellent free kick on the stroke of half time. The fact that Shrewsbury were very wasteful with their chances tell us that Walsall are not out of the woods just yet, but it was a welcome relief after recent weeks.
Up next, the team that gave us a midweek mauling last season, Fleetwood Town (2-6). Here’s hoping for a better result tonight with a tough run of fixtures to follow.
