Lee Grant appointed new Men’s Head Coach

Lee Grant Is Our New Head Coach — And Here’s What We Think

Walsall have confirmed Lee Grant as Men’s Head Coach on a three-year deal ahead of the 2026/27 League Two season — and in the video above, we give you our honest reaction.

Grant comes with a CV that’s hard to ignore. Over 500 professional appearances as a goalkeeper, a UEFA Pro License, and — most relevantly — a key role in Kieran McKenna’s coaching setup at Ipswich Town, where they scored 101 goals on the way to League One promotion and followed it up with another 92 in the Championship on their way to the Premier League. That’s a serious pedigree.

His first managerial stint at Huddersfield was short — 36 games, out the door in January — but he left them in the play-offs with a 41% win rate and Carabao Cup scalps over Leicester and Sunderland. Make of that what you will.

The appointment has clearly been thorough. Head of Football Stewart Mairs talked about an extensive process and multiple candidates. That’s reassuring. Whether Grant is the right man to push us forward in League Two, we’ll find out soon enough.

Excited? Yes. Cautious? Absolutely. Watch the video and let us know where you stand.
