Are you ready for the next Fan Chat? On Sunday, we will be looking through the squad and discussing who we should be trying to keep and who we should let go?
Walsall FC face another significant summer, with 14 out of contract (10 first team) and 5 returning from loans, including key figures like Aden Flint, Brandon Comley, Charlie Lakin, and Jamille Matt. The club has begun internal discussions to retain several players, though many are expected to depart.
Players Out of Contract (Summer 2026):
- Goal Keepers: Jenson Kilroy
- Defenders: Aden Flint, Priestley Farquharson (option on another year), Rico Browne, Evan Weir, Elicha Ahui.
- Midfielders: Brandon Comley, Charlie Lakin, Jamie Jellis, Alfie Chang and Dylan Thomas,
- Forwards: Jamille Matt, Albert Adomah, Josh Gordon
Loans and Other Status Updates:
- Loan Returns: Several players are set to return to their parent clubs, including Daniel Kanu, Myles Roberts, Kacper Ĺopata, Loupalo-Bi, Jid Okeke and Rico Richards.
- Retained/Extended: Harry Williams previously signed a deal until 2026/27.
Walsall do have 8 first teamers already signed up and some loanees set to return. Plus some scholars hoping to secure their first pro-contracts.
Contracted for 2026/27 season:
Keepers: Sam Hornby
Defenders: Harry Williams, Connor Barrett, Mason Hancock, Harrison Burke, Vinny Harper, Stan Straw
Midfielders: Alex Pattison, Ronan Maher, Courtney Clarke, Jake Hollman, Jago Godden
Forwards: Aaron Pressley
Scholars: Mclloyd Oben, Paul Makavore, Charlie Wragg
Once again it looks like a shortage of strikers is the main concern which new Head of Football, Stewart Mairs will be aiming to address.
Will we see the likes of Jago Godden, Ronan Maher and Jake Hollman secure first team football at Walsall next season.
